This role sits within DSIT’s Analysis Capabilities Team within the Security & Online Harms Directorate (SOH).
The Directorate is also responsible for leading DSIT’s work on Security and Counter Disinformation, for example developing policy on counter-disinformation and state threats through legislation and wider government strategies.
The Analysis and Capabilities Team leads the domestic operational response for countering information threats across HMG. This includes responding to acute information incidents, such as the Russian information operations during the war in Ukraine.

Key responsibilities
Support the development and delivery of SOH’s analytical capability. This includes designing and delivering innovative research and analysis to help build HMG’s understanding of information threats facing the UK. The successful applicant will be required to both lead and deliver open-source analysis into key issues, often to tight deadlines.
Act as a subject matter expert in the collation, interrogation and analysis of open-source data to identify and assess the risks information threats pose to UK audiences.
Become confident in using a wide range of propriety and in-house tools to provide detailed analysis of large data sets and able to mentor others in their use.
Work with a wide range of stakeholders from across DSIT, other government departments and external providers.
Help shape SOH analytical capability by providing technical input and challenge with regards to analytical tools.
Ensure the team’s ongoing compliance with HMG legal and ethical frameworks, for example RIPA and GDPR.
Contribute towards the continued professionalisation of the Unit’s analytical function, including through developing robust internal processes and ways of working.
