Are you a cyber security company, professional or academic looking to explore a new sector? Or a space company looking to integrate cybersecurity as part of your offer? Why not come along to our TechNExt fringe event delving into all things cyber in space.

Space is a fast-growing sector with reliance increasing on satellites for communication, security, intelligence, and business. Cybercrime against space systems is becoming more apparent and the increase in the volume of data arriving from satellites has sparked concerns about the security of data transport and storage between satellites and ground systems.

Space North East England in collaboration with CyberNorth will host a TechNExt fringe helping companies to explore this exciting sector with the opportunity to hear from experts in this field.

Speakers include:

Dr Sharon Lemac-Vincere –  an interdisciplinary academic at Strathclyde University and a visiting academic at the International Space University. She specialises in ‘Space Entrepreneurship’ and ‘Cyber Security in the Commercial Space Sector’ and her work engages with early-stage technology, secure by design principles and data visualisation.

Paul Ellis – Business Development Manager – ANGOKA Ltd. ANGOKA is IoT Security Company that protects connected device communication for Smart Cities and Smart Mobility. Their hardware-based solution represents a complete paradigm shift in traditional approaches to cybersecurity. Paul will discuss opportunities and experiences of working within the space sector.

Dr Biju Issac is an Associate Professor and Head of Subject (Networks and Cyber Security) at Northumbria University. He is the Director of the Academic Centre of Excellence in Cyber Security Research (ACE-CSR). The NCSC and the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) jointly recognise ACE-CSR.
