Join us at Newcastle University’s Research & Innovation Showcase as we share the future of Earth Observation (EO) underpinned by advances in AI.   

Newcastle University are at the forefront of exploring the impact of space data and technology on our planet, working alongside business & industry partners such as CyberNorth, Universities, and within Space North East England

We are at the forefront of remote sensing research, specialising in multi-scale sensing technologies and analysis techniques to monitor and protect natural capital. Our expertise spans ground-based sensors, Internet of Things (IoT) networks, drones, airborne sensors, and satellite observations.  

Through innovative projects and collaborations, we address critical environmental challenges and drive the adoption of new technologies to safeguard our natural assets. 

Major Newcastle University projects include: 

  • multi-scale sensing for natural capital monitoring 
  • monitoring natural assets with satellite application capabilities 
  • use of satellite data for social science and health research 
  • satellite technology to monitor algal blooms 
  • fast and accurate landslide detection for disaster response 
  • using EO to monitor and protect heritage
