About the job
Job summary
The Cyber Security Officer position is a role within the NS&I Risk Directorate. The role supports the entire cyber security team in providing assurance that both our delivery partners and corporate service providers are operating effective cyber security control environments.
Cyber security is a scientific field, encompassing scientific principles and methodologies from multiple disciplines, including computer science, mathematics, engineering, and behavioural sciences.
The complexity of cyber security arises from the diverse and evolving nature of threats, technologies, regulations, and human factors involved. Addressing these complexities requires a holistic approach that combines technical expertise, strategic planning, organisational commitment, and continuous adaptation to emerging threats.
The Cyber Security Officer will support the wider cyber security team by supporting NS&I with assurance and oversight activities to assess whether the service providers and corporate suppliers are managing the complexities and ensuring cyber security risks are mitigated to acceptable levels.
The Cyber Security Officer will be proficient in forging and sustaining trust-based relationships with colleagues across NS&I and the service providers that help to build a security focused culture between NS&I and providers and B2B customers.
The role holder will be responsible for supporting their colleagues in the security team to provide an objective based opinion on whether appropriate controls are implemented by suppliers and across the corporate business to mitigate identified risks and reviewing evidence that risks are mitigated through control enhancements.
