The CIA is a community of thought leading, industry experts who have a keen interest in information security and the technology behind it.
The alliance was formed in 2022 to meet the growing demand of those with an interest in security to network and share best practices with other like-minded professionals.
Our members include C suite strategic leaders, operational staff, and individuals responsible for implementing and managing security programs and technologies through to those responsible for risk management and audit.
The membership is made up of staff from the private sector, public sector and the voluntary, not-for-profit sector.
In short, if you have an interest in security, and would like to network with your peers to discuss cyber risks and threat mitigation, this is the forum for you.
ISC2 North East England Chapter
Our chapter is a local network of peers who aim to share knowledge, exchange resources, and collaborate on projects to inspire a safe and secure cyber world.
The chapter:
- Connects like-minded individuals with networking and career opportunities.
- Educates members on the latest trends, new technologies, preparing for ISC2 certification and opportunities to earn CPE credits.
- Inspires the next generation of cybersecurity professionals.

ISACA Northern England Chapter

The aim of the Chapter is to conduct regular Chapter events and promote the IS audit, risk, control and security professions throughout the area.
ISACA is a world wide association of IS professionals, focused on assurance, security, and governance. It provides globally recognised certifications in assurance (Certified Information Systems Auditor), security (Certified Information Security Manager), risk (Certified in Risk and Information Systems Control) and governance (Certified in the Governance of Enterprise IT).
ISACA is made up of individual members, reflecting the backgrounds and skills that make the governance and control of information systems challenging and dynamic.
The Chapter is run by volunteers nominated at the Chapter’s Annual General Meeting (AGM). Members’ participation in the running of the Chapter is encouraged and appreciated.
ISNorthEast
ISNorthEast is the WARP for the North East and brings together the information security professionals from public sector organisations in Northumberland, Tyne and Wear, Durham and the Tees Valley in a trusted community.
It allows them to get together on a regular basis to share good practice, exchange views and address information assurance and cyber security issues facing local public service organisations that could potentially be affecting everyone. Critically, the community shares Alerts and Warnings in real time and has excellent links into Government Departments and the NCSC as well as to exclusive public sector threat monitoring services.
NEICT
NEICT brings together the IT sections from councils across the North East of England to share experience and work together to address emerging policy, technology, market and resource challenges. Within that NEICT has a group for its IT security managers who collectively support around 2,000 applications, 30,000 users and over 1,000 corporate locations and have influence over £40m of spend on ICT goods and services.

Northern WARP is the brand for joint activity between the public sector WARPs of the North East, North West and Yorkshire and Humber areas.
Together we’ve organised online conferences and a number of face to face experience-sharing activities. We plan to build on that with more collaborative activity over coming years.
NERCCU
The North East Regional Cyber Crime Unit provides free cyber security support and guidance to businesses, organisations and individuals to help improve their cyber security measures and behaviours. This can include staff awareness sessions, webinars, tabletop cyber exercises as well as guidance around what to do in the event of a cyber incident and how law enforcement can assist.
The unit also has a dedicated team who work with young people to prevent them from becoming involved in cyber crime and encourage them to use their tech skills safely.
NEBRC
The NEBRC, a not-for-profit community interest company, partners with law enforcement, educational institutions, and private businesses to enhance the cybersecurity of SMEs in the North East, Yorkshire and Humberside. The NEBRC offers various services, such as free core membership, paid memberships, events, and training. The centre also utilises local university undergraduates who collaborate with industry experts to conduct affordable, customized vulnerability assessments. These assessments help small businesses better grasp their cyber risks and simultaneously provide students with valuable real-world experience, improving their job prospects in the region after graduation.

The Open Worldwide Application Security Project (OWASP) is a nonprofit organisation focused on improving the security of software. Our primary purpose is to provide resources, tools, and knowledge to help developers, security professionals, and organisations enhance the security of web We achieve this by maintaining a list of the top web application security risks (OWASP Top Ten), offering guidelines and best practices for secure coding, and developing open-source security tools and projects, all of which are free to access and use.
