The UK Cyber Security Council is keen to work with aspiring cyber professionals to help them access the industry. This includes giving them knowledge of networks and best practices that can support them in their careers, helping them to network with professionals and understanding the pathways into cyber and the benefits of professional registration.
As a way of supporting the council with this objective, CyberNorth put on a webinar for students and potential career transitioners who have an interest in Cyber Security and would like to understand more about what it entails, how to get into the industry and to network with those already enjoying careers in the sector.
The webinar introduced the North East’s aspiring cyber professionals to CyberNorth – the region’s cluster, and the employment opportunities within the region. They also got to hear from a panel of professionals talking about their careers and experiences.
The 75 minute webinar took the following format:
- Introduction to CyberNorth and how the cluster can support students into the sector
- Welcome from the UK Cyber Security Council talking about professionalisation and
how you can achieve it - Panel discussion with three regional cyber security professionals (technical and non
technical) - Q&A with cyber professionals
- Introduction to the CyberNorth influencing the influencer careers portal with
signposting resources to help get young people into cyber and case studies from
cyber professionals - Links to CAN website page and portal
