We’re delighted that CyberNorth has won additional funding to run a second cyber security innovation centre. The latest round of CyberLocal funding from the Department of Science, Innovation and Technology (DSIT) will allow us to run the series of workshops again in early 2025.
Building on our first successful pilot, CyberNorth will be running the Innovation Centre throughout February (13th, 20th) and March (6th, 13th, 20th, 27th). The accelerator programme offers six, full day, incubator style courses (see below). These interactive workshops, covering Product, Customers, Company, Money, People and Meet the buyer, will be delivered by highly regarded professionals in the business support industry. Each will include an opportunity to hear from and engage with cyber security business owners. Executive coaching will also be available for all cohort members, as required.
The workshops will all be held at Maybrook House, Grainger Street, Newcastle:
- Feb 13 Product – developing a value proposition, testing this in the market, creating a minimum viable product, preparing your market approach
- Feb 20 Customers – where they are and how to find them, market research, how to get them, how to turn prospects into customers, realising the value of your offer.
- Mar 6 Company – types of companies and how to set one up,incorporation, governance, legal requirements, structure, intellectual property and business support available locally.
- Mar 13 Money – managing your business’ finances, legal obligations and staying compliant, raising funding and stages of funding.
- Mar 20 People – resilience and looking after yourself, business planning, dealing with conflict. HR policies and processes, recruitment and retention, your partnership and choosing the right people to work with.
- Mar 27 Summary and meet the buyer – academic research and support available – an opportunity to meet cyber security services buyers from local leading businesses.
The Innovation Centre is for anyone who is 18 or older who would like to develop a product or service in the cyber security sector. It is aimed at businesses at either early stage or pre-startup stage and its maturity can be anywhere from initial concept development or an already incorporated business.
Those in the cohort can be in education, employment or otherwise. As long as the business idea relates to cyber security and you want help either getting off the ground or finding out whether it’s viable, the Innovation Centre is for you!
