The first cohort of North East cyber security leaders have now completed the first CyberNorth Future Cyber Leaders’ programme.
The initiative has been such a success that not only has third cohort been drawn up but it is also being prepared to launch nationally.
Funded by DSIT’s Cyber Local Fund, the programme has been developed with the cyber community in order to furnish aspiring leaders with the necessary skills to be successful in their future roles.
Often promoted for their technical expertise, cyber security leaders can sometimes lack the necessary leadership, communication and networking skills to see them thrive in their hugely complex roles.
For this reason, CyberNorth teamed up with leading experts nationally to design and deliver this fully funded programme to the region’s next generation of CISOs. Open to all, the programme received over 40 applications for only 16 places at one of two cohorts in Newcastle and Darlington. Additional funding has now been secured to run a third funded cohort in Durham in the summer.
Run over four weeks, the programme sees participants enjoy a day of face to face in person workshops, followed by one-to-one executive coaching online in between the taught sessions. This learning is further consolidated with an in person networking session and mentoring practice that the cohort can offer to future cohorts.
On completing the programme, one of the participants said, “Before the course, I was a techie. Now I’m a techie with real leadership skills.“
Due to the popularity of the programme, we are now planning to take this national and offer this course around the UK. People will shortly be able to book onto the programme, and find out about fees, programme and facilitators on our new webpages that will launch at the end of the month
