Job Title: IT Systems & Events Executive

Reporting to: Infrastructure Manager

Department: IT

Based: North East of England (currently Newcastle), with travel.

 

Responsibilities:

The IT Systems & Events Executive is responsible for supporting the Infrastructure Manager and the Head of Event Technology in ensuring the smooth running of IT based systems, hardware and software across the company, in line with company and departmental objectives.

 

This includes the full life cycle of systems, hardware and software within the organisation including, Design, Deployment, Training, Testing and Maintenance.

 

The ideal candidate will have knowledge of computer hardware and software, network maintenance and security principles. Engaging with employees throughout the organisation, the candidate will solve general IT support requests to ensure employees can remain productive in their own roles.

 

Typical Duties – Support/Service Desk (approx. 70%)

Provide technical support for internal end users on routine hardware and software problems including operating system support, application support, and system access problems
Troubleshoot and diagnoses basic problems with computer equipment. Perform minor maintenance and repair on equipment, as necessary. Refer problems to Infrastructure Manager or IT management if unable to resolve. (1st and 2nd level technical support.)
Provide technical support to end users in-person, via email, chat and/or phone regarding various computer related issues and problems.
Helps identify and troubleshoot IT account and access related issues, including password changes, identity verification and support for alternate access.
Manage Help Desk ticketing system and assist with resolving all raised tickets in line with agreed response times.
Assist end users with the basic operation of application software, including but not limited to, word processing, spreadsheet, presentation and communication software, web applications, anti-virus and other business applications on varied platforms and operating systems.
Keep current with rapidly changing technologies, computer utilities and tools, providing recommendations for improved business efficiency where appropriate.
Create technical, procedural and self-help documentation, videos and other suitable guides to establish and encourage best practice guidelines for all employees to improve efficiencies.
Support the Infrastructure Manager to manage and maintain internal and external facing IT systems and to ensure that business continuity planning requirements are implemented, and data is backed up and protected.
Attend and participate in departmental and event-project team meetings where required, to discuss IT-related elements and issues. Reporting back to the IT Manager or Head of Event Technology, as appropriate.
Contribute to departmental projects as assigned.
Perform duties in compliance with Company policies and regulations.
Perform other related duties as assigned.

 

The IT Systems & Events Executive will spend approx. 30% of their time supporting, preparing and planning the delivery of technology services at events including attending and working at events. This role involves travel within the UK and worldwide, predominately at weekends.

 

The role will involve liaising with staff members and where appropriate 3rd parties, to manage and support the technical systems in place. The role is ideally suited for someone with excellent problem solving, communication skills.

 

Typical Duties – Event Technology (approx. 30%)

Prepare, plan and support the delivery of events and ensuring the smooth running of all IT processes throughout the event.
Assist in gathering the technical specifications for events with guidance from Head of Event Technology and IT Systems and Events engineer.
Complete site preparations with 3rd parties and other departments where appropriate
Manage the testing and preparation of IT equipment before and after Events

 

Technical Skills / Qualification

Essential

12+ months experience in an IT Support role

Knowledge of:

Office 365
Microsoft Windows Desktop and Server
Apple Mac Hardware & OS
Anti-Virus & Anti-Malware products
Hosted Telephony VOIP Management
LAN and WAN
UK Comprehensive driving license

Availability for weekend work
